Although it is probably good news for the developers, I’m saddened that Google recently acquired Sparrow, the Mac email app that I have been using (at least in those rare moments I’m actually doing email on the Mac—it’s the iPad for me these days). From Sparrow’s site:
While we’ll be working on new things at Google, we will continue to make Sparrow available and provide support for our users.
Which apparently means no new version of Sparrow for either Mac or iOS. One also hopes it means, at least, an improved Gmail experience, because the Gmail web, in my opinion, seems to seek to often frustrate its users. (The navigation being particularly irksome.)
A final note: BoingBoing has apparently prepared a guide for saps like me: How to Prepare for Google’s Acquisition of Sparrow.
