“Killing Them Softly.”

Andrew Dominik is on my short list of directors whose movies  I must see. The trailer for his latest, Killing Them Softly, has just been released. You can watch it at Slashfilm. There is a little extended version of a scene on the film’s website, too. (Be forewarned that it plays automatically.) The synopsis:

Adapted from George V. Higgins novel and set in New Orleans, Killing Them Softly follows professional enforcer, Jackie Cogan (Pitt), who investigates a heist that occurs during a high stakes, mob-protected, poker game. The film also features Scoot McNairy (Monsters), Ben Mendelsohn (Animal Kingdom), Ray Liotta, Richard Jenkins (The Visitor), with James Gandolfini, Vincent Curatola, Max Casella and Sam Shepard among others.

Yeah, I’m there. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford was just that good.
